Thanks for reaching out regarding Permit to Carry classes.
The class is 4 hours long and runs from ~8:00a.m. until ~1:00p.m. and all training including classroom and the live fire shooting exercise is done in one session on that particular Saturday (dates shown above). The class is $100 per person, however, if you get 4 or more people, including yourself, who sign up and take the class together, the cost is $75 per person and all permit renewals are $85 and I cover all range fees, will have handguns and ammo available if you or others don’t have one, as well as eye and ear protection.
After you take the class and pass, I will give you a signed completion certificate which you will take to the sheriff’s office in the county in which you reside and there you’ll fill out a background check form and pay them their fee. Typically, the sheriff’s office charges between $75 and $100, but no more than $100, and your permit is good for 5 years. They will run a background check to verify some basic information including: not in a criminal gang, no assault (including domestic) with a firearm, not charged with stalking, not a danger to others or were in a mental institution, etc. We’ll go over these and many other laws in class. The sheriff has 30 days to accept and issue the permit or deny it.
In addition, I will need a list of the people attending the class, and their names will need to appear exactly how they appear on their drivers license.
Also, the classroom portion is a presentation, 107 slides, is held indoors at the 20 Rifle and Pistol Club in Medford. The shooting portion is held outside on one of the ranges at the same location, so please dress for the weather.
